Just read this passage from a book written in 1918, The Science of Power. "It is the same kind of emotions which are being stirred, the same feelings of combativeness which are being aroused, the same kind of arguments which are being used. Every device, every ruse, every absurdity, even to grotesque distortions of the truth, are pressed into service to move or excite the feelings of combativeness." It seems like this is what is happening with discussions of all of the following. And it seems that when we talk about the extreme rise in autism rates, and other brain disorders and health issues, that we need to take into account the cumulative effects of all of the below substances. It would seem that common sense would dictate that ingesting, being injected with, and being exposed to all these chemicals cannot be anything but deleterious to our health over the long run. The book also talks about how the media (mostly newspapers at the time this was written) lie and mislead for monetary reasons. Seems nothing has changed in this regard, except now it has spread to TV and radio. Thankfully, the truth can be found if you dig around the internet.
FLUORIDE - Has been added to our drinking water in most cities and states. Because everyone drinks different amounts of water, everyone's dose is different. Imagine if they did that with with insulin injections for diabetes, if the doctor said, "Here's a bottle of insulin, inject whatever." Fluoride is also labeled as a neurotxoin. Keep in mind the list of neurotoxins being introduced into your body in the following list of things you are either ingesting or that are being injected into you or your children. Here is a link to information on Fluoride.
GMO's and Glyphosate - No one knows what GMO's list of side effects may be although some studies have shown tumors to be one possibility. The glyphosate they use on GMO crops is another neurotoxin. And now, due to heavy spraying with Glyphosate, it is starting to be found in all foods. For more information, go to this link.
(Please note: besides the links in this article, you can go to Google and enter things like: Fluoride neurotoxin, or glyphosate neurotoxin, etc. and find lots of other links to study. The only caution is to make sure the link is not one written by the company who makes or supplies fluoride or glyphosate, or benefits from their use.)
VACCINATIONS - As I was writing this, the following came out: Organic Consumers Association went anti-vaccination this morning - Here is the Link to the Article (Monday, May 26, 2015), along with this meme:
The link goes to an article by David Wolfe plus lists lots of references for you to check, should you wish. After investigating immunizations, I had come to the same conclusions he did, and he added some other concerns, such as if you're a vegan. Each day I find something new and disturbing about vaccines. Here is a link to a series of videos you should watch about vaccines, strokes, and S.I.D.S. given by a Canadian doctor: Videos. And just several pages of short quotes related to this subject: Short Quotes and Info. And finally, an infographic (there was a quote from "All the President's Men" by Deep Throat - "Follow the Money, Always follow the Money):"
Click on the infographic to see a larger size. And finally, besides other links I have posted previously, here is a link to Green Med Info publication of 317 pages of links for further study, should you be so inclined. About vaccines and autism - don't know how many studies showed no link (and who did them or funded them), but there were at least 17 studies that showed a link - none of which are mentioned by the media.
They say if you are vaccinated for a particular disease, you won't get it. So why are those who get vaccinated worried about those who aren't? And if you still can get the disease after getting vaccinated, then why bother getting it when the possible side effects may be worse than the disease? As an example, in the past 10 years, between zero to four children died from measles (depending on which source is correct), but 108 died from the vaccination and thousands more were injured, some with permanent brain damage. Not to mention what has in some cases been listed as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome may have actually been a direct result of a vaccination.
Bottom line - I have nothing against someone getting vaccinated, or not. I am against people having no say in the matter when they, or there children, may be seriously harmed or killed by getting vaccinated. And I think everyone should have the correct information so they can make an informed choice.
Follow the Money, Always Follow the Money.

Your Life, Your Health (and Happy Memorial Day)
Many times, I know what I want to say, but where to start? If you feel that your health is your number one most important thing in your life (or even in the top 3 things, along with love and success or similar things), then don't you owe it to yourself to spend some time each week researching how to stay healthy? I subscribe to several health newsletters, and then double check some of the things they say. They usually include references which I may go to for further information and clarification.
Now, there are some people who say why worry about your health, you're going to die anyway. When I was a young teen, I felt that way, too - I ate what I wanted, drank way too many soft drinks, etc. When I saw my grandmother suffer her last few years of life, I had no idea it had to do with her diet. There was no internet back then to research these things. But I started learning the hard way when, at 24, I had constant stomach aches (24/7) and found out I had an ulcer. Growing up I caught every cold and flu that was going around - I thought that was normal, not a health problem. But over the years, I learned the importance of diet related to health, and why eating anything I wanted was not a good idea. The benefits have been pretty miraculous - no more colds and flu, no more allergies, no headaches, and on and on. And guess what - all without immunizations.
So the question you need to ask yourself is whether you want to be healthy regardless of how long you live, or if you prefer to suffer before that time comes. How do you stay healthy? By doing what I do - staying informed and researching....and definitely by NOT believing the media. And a healthy diet, exercise, and for me, supplements. Plus a good nights sleep, hopefully low stress, and doing my best to avoid environmental toxins.
For example, according to the media, immunizations are completely safe. Which is curious, as more people have died from the measles shot than from measles over the past 10 years in the U.S. And thousands have had adverse reactions reported. If they are safe, why do the companies that make them have no liability? Why would anyone care if you or your child is immunized if their child was immunized? If the shot is supposed to give them immunity, why would they worry about your child coming into contact with those who have been immunized? How can they even think it's safe to inject you or your kids with mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, MSG, and other toxins?
I could go on, but instead here are some links for you to read:

And on another note - hope you all have a safe, healthy, and happy Memorial Day.

Pass This On.....or Else! (aka - Think For Yourself)
Or else what? You will have bad luck, good luck, you will help this or that, or whatever. How many of you have seen these posts on the internet, and especially Facebook?
For example, today I was reading an interesting post, and was ready to "Like" it, and perhaps share it, when I read, "If you do not pass this on, you may never know ...."
Of course, that's better than telling you you'll have "bad luck," or "bad health" if you don't share it or pass it on. Since when does the internet determine these things?
When I read these kinds of posts, I will not pass them on. Is it assuming that those who read it can't think on their own? Imagine if people said this to you in person - how would you feel? Should the written word be any different?
I have nothing against recommendations, perhaps for a book or a movie or something I might enjoy, but if I was told you have to read "X" book, or "Y" will happen, forget about it.
Speaking of books, I will keep recommending this one, as it is excellent: The Law of Success by Napoleon Hill. I am just reading the Lesson on Accurate Thought and the author's thinking on this subject, which was written in 1928, pretty much mirrors my own thoughts related to my past posts about vaccinations (although the Accurate Thinking in the book does not talk about vaccinations), as far as doing your research and not believing, nor taking as fact, what the media says.
Never forget that vaccinations or other medical procedures affect your health or the health of those you love. So don't you think it's a good idea to thoroughly investigate any substance that you ingest or are about to get injected into your (or your children's) body? Thankfully you no longer have to listen to the media - you can find the source on the internet, and find out what may or may not be true. Or dangerous. Or ineffective.

A Short Word About Drug Ads
Well, a few words and a link. The link says most of what I want to say, so here it is: Bad side effects that are now being referred to as a benefit!
I just heard the ad on TV for Invokana. Some of the side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration. Turned into a possible benefit - they said it may help with weight loss. Well, if you can't eat due to nausea, get dehydrated, and have diarrhea, you pretty much have to weigh less. Of course, this may also damage various organs and kill you...then you won't have to worry about your weight.
BTW - my father had diabetes. He changed his diet to a much healthier one, and as a result, got off all his diabetes medications. Instead of asking your doctor for a drug, as the commercials ask you to do, perhaps it would be better to tell him/her about your new healthy diet so he/she can monitor your progress and adjust your medication if needed.

Paddle Tennis, Mariela, and the Law of Success
It's a little soon for another post, but I wanted to post these paddle tennis photos for Mariela, as well as talk briefly about a book by Napoleon Hill called the Law of Success.
First, the photos - they're on Facebook, but I still don't know how easy they are for someone else to find...here, they are easier:
Please keep in mind the following - these photos, just like paddle tennis, are meant to be fun. The conditions for shooting photos on the courts are a bit less than ideal - strong sun, harsh shadows most of the time.
As always, if you see a photo here of yourself that you would rather not be posted, let me know and I will remove it, or at least you, from the photo or post.
If this is your first time here, you can see a larger image of the photos by clicking on them. If you really love a photo and want a larger size file of it, let me know. All photos here have been reduced in size for uploading and posting.
Now, about the Law of Success - I have only read about 30% of it thus far, but would highly recommend it to everyone, especially those in high school and those in their 20s. I wish I had been aware of it and read it back then. I agree with the author - it should be required reading in school, and also a required course. For now, that is all I will say about it. After I've finished it, I will no doubt say more.
Mariela - hope you were able to find this site. Everyone else, hope you enjoy the photos. Wishing you all a great week.

Sun Vs Shade in Photography
This past Saturday at Venice Beach there was a Paddle Tennis Tournament and Event. I photographed some of the event (as the official unofficial photographer). The event was to recognize the achievements of past players as well as to award someone with the Mr. Paddle Tennis Award for a given year. Unfortunately, the ceremony took place under the noon day sun, yielding very harsh lighting and shadows. Shooting the photos in RAW and using Lightroom, the effects of this light can be minimized somewhat; however, there are other things that can be done to improve the quality of the finished images.
Use of a reflector can help if you have a large enough reflector to cover everyone, which in group shots can be difficult. But even then, you would have trouble with people squinting from the brightness of the reflector. Opposite the courts are the buildings along Ocean Front Walk - which starting around three or four hours before sunset would act like a large reflector and could be used that way. More options - use flash/strobe lights to even out the lighting and fill in the shadows. Another possibility would be to have the event ceremony start around one or two hours before sunset. Or shoot the photos in the shade or have shade on the courts (by using those fold-up tents). Below are some photos shot in the direct sun and some in the shade. Notice how much better the people look in the shade in the first two photos, with some light reflecting off nearby surfaces, compared to the last three in direct sun (and the direct sun photos were improved with Lightroom!).

May 1, 2015 - Wise Words From 1938
Just finished reading a book, originally written in 1938 by Napoleon Hill. The title: Outwitting the Devil. Here are a few words of wisdom from that book:
"Teach children what to eat, how much to eat, and what is the relationship between proper eating and sound health.
Teach the students how to budget and use time and above all, teach the truth that time is the greatest asset available to human beings, and the cheapest.
Teach children to be definite in all things, beginning with the choice of a definite major purpose in life!
Teach children the difference between temporary defeat and failure, and show them how to search for the seed of an equivalent advantage which comes with every defeat.
Teach children the true nature of the Golden Rule, and above all show them that through the operation of this principle, everything they do to and for another they do also to and for themselves.
Teach children that the space they occupy in the world is measured definitely by the quality and quantity of useful service they render to the world."
There are many more things mentioned in the book related to what should be taught to children, but these were my favorites. It seems like he was ahead of his time with what he had to say about diet and overeating. Here is a direct quote from the book, said better than I could have said it.
Hope you get the chance to read the book - it's well worth it. Meanwhile, have a great weekend.
