Variations of a Theme - or Examples of Variables in Photography

In my last post I mentioned variables.  In this example, I use the same exact photo in all the samples, just post processed differently.  Post processing is one variable with just about infinite possibilities.  These samples are only a tiny fraction of what can be done, just in post processing.  Then there is make-up for the session, different lighting, different composition and posing, different focal lengths and f stops, etc.  When I say eliminate the variables, what I mean is having complete control over them.  Knowing exactly what your final photo will (or can) look like as you are recording the image.

Because I didn't want to subject someone to these variations (some are nice, some are a bit bizarre), I used a selfie (window light with diffuser and white foamcore reflector opposite the window, camera about two feet away) - the infinite me, ha ha.  As always, click on the image to see a larger size (the images are in groups of four - tried all as one image, but size wouldn't increase).  The original image that all the others started with is the image on the upper left.

BTW - your health also has infinite variables - and depending on which choices you make in your diet, exercise, lifestyle, etc., will determine to a very large extent how healthy you are and how much you will enjoy yourself.  So please take control of your health.  Some good sites to help with that and to start with are foodbabe.com and mercola.com.

Hope you enjoyed this post.  And have a great week.
