Beauty, Obesity, Health, and Photography

BEAUTY  -  I've been experimenting with lighting and post production variables (see my last 2 posts) and how to improve upon what I already know in order to get you to look more beautiful than you ever thought you could.  This doesn't mean the finished photo will look like someone else - it will definitely be you and it will still be realistic looking.  Just like when you put make-up on (for women), it still looks like you, you are just highlighting your best features and downplaying the features that you don't want to show so much (if at all!).

OBESITY & HEALTH  -  Can these coexist?  Very unlikely, especially after hearing the latest reports on the news that obesity greatly increases your risk for heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

OBESITY & BEAUTY  -  Do these coexist?  I think everyone has his or her own opinions on this subject and on the subject of what is beautiful.  And, of course, inner beauty can trump outer beauty, so regardless of what your appearance is, you can look beautiful.  But does that mean it's OK to be overweight or obese?  Not if you want to enjoy a long and healthy life.  Yes, there are always exceptions, but this is for the majority of people.

PHOTOGRAPHY, BEAUTY, HEALTH, & OBESITY  -  When we mix these four things together, what will give us the best possible photos?  A photographer who understands lighting, posing, composition, post production, etc.  And the person who is being photographed will look best when healthy (who eats well, exercises, not stressed out, great lifestyle, not overweight, etc.), well rested, posed and lighted well, etc.

I've written this because there is a photographer I really like (love her personality) and who is pretty well known and does great work.  She photographs women in glamour/boudoir style, and says they are all beautiful regardless of how overweight they may be - she really promotes the beauty of all women, which is great.  But everyone should be aware of the health dangers of being overweight/obese.  And as beautiful as you may look when overweight, I would be willing to bet you will look even more so when at your normal or best weight for your frame.

Hope you've enjoyed this, have a great TGIF day and weekend to follow.
